Traditional Curriculum through Modern Media

Southwind Virtual School is a K-12 virtual school program provided to answer the growing need for
virtual education in our area to member districts and their home school families.    Students wishing to enroll
in the school must be sponsored by their local school district.  Students who sign up become part of the
public school and will be on the school's enrollment count, attendance and AYP.

Highlights of Southwind Virtual School:

  • We offer families  K-12  curriculum as the backbone of our instructional programs.  We use K12 and Odysseyware curriculum, which are aligned to Kansas state standards.
  • We provide families connections with caring, licensed teachers experienced with modifying instruction to fit the individual needs of individual children.
  • We offer 6 subjects:  Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music, and Art.  Students can enroll in any or all of the subjects.
  • Each student is assigned an Educational Specialist by Southwind Virtual School to monitor the student's progress and be of help wherever need to the student/family.
  • We give our students formative assessments throughout the year and remediate where needed.
  • We provide families the opportunity to lease a computer during the school year for a $20 per year lease.
