COLLEGE CREDIT

MID AMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY

Southwest Plains has partnered with Mid-America Nazarene University to offer college credit for many of the professional learning opportunities we offer.

COLLEGE CREDIT

To better support our educators’ needs for continuing education and provide more opportunities to earn college credits from MNU, we have adopted their STAR Program

To receive the initial credit from MNU, you need only to complete Part One of the STAR Assignment  which looks the same as the past general assignment. Credit cost is $45/half credit and $90/full credit.

STAR parts 2-5 are optional, and allow you to earn up to 2.50 additional college credits by applying the new knowledge, skills, and practices you learned from the initial course. These additional parts involve application, impact, and assessment utilizing the course information in the classroom. You have up to one year from the initial course date to complete one or more of the optional STAR parts.

MNU STAR Program Summary:

  • Part One Knowledge: Basic Reflection

  • Part Two Knowledge: Context & the Learner (0.50 credit)

  • Part Three Application: Instructional Planning, Assessment and Implementation (1.0 credit)

  • Part Four Impact: Data and the Student (0.50 credit)

  • Part Five Impact: Reflection & Leadership (0.50 credit)

This changeover to the STAR Program is a great opportunity for our educators to earn additional college credits based on the initial credit and assignment. Parts One - Five must be completed in sequential order; and when to stop is up to you (only parts 1-2, however many or all). As always, any portion of the offered college credit is 100% optional.
